Amazing

*Disclaimers- All comments & criticism welcome! (How can I get better without feedback?!) *S* aaeth@hotmail.com Yu Yu Hakusho Does NOT belong to me! The story is mine! The characters aren't. Much to my dismay....

I kept the right ones out; let the wrong ones in...

[Hiei and the others are on a mission from Koenma to seek and destroy a dangerous S-class youko. Hiei's face is a mask that betrays no emotion. Only when they confront the S-class does his lips twist into a vicious half-smile.]

... Had an angel of mercy to see me through my sins.

[Hiei and Kurama fight side by side, attacking the youko, but their attacks seem to have little effect.]

There were times in my life, where I was going insane...

[Suddenly the S-class sends a strong blast of ki straight at Kurama, who can't get away in time. Hiei sees it coming, and uses his incredible speed to push Kurama out of the way. Hiei takes the direct hit instead.]

... Trying to walk through the pain.

[Hiei struggles to stay on his feet.]

When I lost my grip and I hit the floor... Yeah I thought I could leave, but couldn't get out the door.

[Hiei is blasted again, and this time he is rendered unconscious. Kurama is enraged to see his friend injured, and he uses his Rose Whip to give the S-class a painful and bloody death Hiei would have been proud of.]

I was so sick and tired of living a lie, I was wishing that I would die.

[Kurama couldn't pretend to be indifferent to the fire demon he'd loved secretly. Kurama insisted on taking care of Hiei, and so he sneaks Hiei past his mother and into his room where he tended the little Koorime's wounds.]

Its Amazing with the blink of an eye you finally see the light.

[Kurama watches Hiei sleep peacefully, and he vows the one day Hiei will be his.]

Its Amazing when the moment arrives that you know you'll be all right.

[The next morning Hiei wakes to find a sleeping Kurama next to him. As he jumps into the tree outside Kurama's window, Hiei wonders why Kurama brought him here, why he cared for him... is it possible......? Hiei shook his head and quickly bounded away before Kurama could wake.]

Its Amazing and I'm saying a prayer for the desperate hearts tonight.

[Through half opened eyes Kurama watches Hiei leave. When Hiei is out of sight Kurama hugs the pillow that still carries Hiei's piney scent. Inhaling deeply he whispers to the pillow what he longs to tell Hiei, "Ai shiteru...."]

That one last shot's a Permanent Vacation.

[On the next mission Kurama is badly injured. For days, Hiei never leaves his bedside. He is forced to admit to himself that he loves the fox.]

And how high can you fly with broken wings?

[For a brief moment, Hiei allows himself to imagine a happy life with Kurama. A life with no more betrayal and abandonment. He could see little Hiei and Kurama kits running around underfoot, and a rare smile blossomed on the lonely demon's face.]

Life's a journey, not a destination. And I just can't tell just what tomorrow brings.

[Hiei's happiness is fleeting as old insecurities arise. He just can't imagine the beautiful Kurama loving him, a forbidden child, a murderer, a nothing.]

You have to learn to crawl before you learn to walk.

[Hiei and Kurama grow closer as friends, both wanting more; neither knowing how to ask. Kurama knows more about Hiei than any other, and Hiei is always watching Kurama's back (and other parts ^_^) Somehow Kurama convinced Hiei to be social and actually stick around for the drinking session that usually follows a successful mission.]

But I just couldn't listen to all that righteous talk.

[They drink for quite a while and everybody is soon drunk off their asses. Kuwabara starts telling Yuusuke about his feelings for Yukina. Kuwabara is so smashed he fails to notice Hiei's rising anger, and his rising katana. Luckily for Kuwabara, Kurama did notice, and he hauled Hiei out of the room before he could decapitate Kuwabara for even thinking about his sister.]

I was out on the street just trying to survive. Scratching to stay alive.

[Kurama drags Hiei away from Kuwabara. Finally he stops in a forest clearing. He is pleasantly suprised when Hiei doesn't instantly kick his ass for interfering. Instead, Hiei sits under a tree and looks at Kurama with a thoughtful expression on his face. Kurama sits next to him, and he stares up at the stars. "Talk to me Hiei."

Hiei speaks, slowly at first and then his words come faster, his breath catches with emotion. Hiei tells Kurama about his past. Kurama listens while Hiei tells him about being a forbidden child; about being abused and abandoned countless times. So Kurama does the only thing he can think of, he holds Hiei close.]

Its Amazing with the blink of an eye you finally see the light

[Kurama murmurs soothing words into Hiei's ears trying to ease his pain. Instinctively, Kurama whispers the words he'd been meaning to say, "Ai shiteru." Hiei stares into Kurama's shocked eyes. Kurama quickly tries to retract his confession, but Hiei rests his finger over Kurama's lips, "Ai shiteru, Kitsune no Baka."]

It's Amazing when the moment arrives that you know you'll be alright.

[Kurama's face fills with joy and hope, but soon that disappears. He looks down and says Hiei doesn't mean what he says; that it is the liquer talking. Hiei puts his left arm around Kurama's shoulders, and tilts Kurama's chin with his other hand. Kurama tries to avoid Hiei's eyes but it is no use and he is forced to look into their ruby depths. In his most convincing, most seductive, most 1-900-HIEI-SEX voice he repeats, "I love you, fox"]

It's Amazing and I'm saying a prayer for the desperate hearts tonight............................................
